Okay, I admit that my main goal is to lose weight. No sense pretending it isn’t.
Anyway, I decided to start the Nutriway Trim Balance System weight management program on Ash Wednesday. Phase I involved a 2-day cleansing diet of nothing but protein shakes (heavier one with yogurt, milk, and a banana for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as compared to the snack shakes) for two days. I figured I could hit two birds with one stone by fasting and getting a good headstart on my weight loss goal.
Sticking to a strict diet has always been difficult for me, but whenever I am tempted to buy sushi or something that isn’t part of any phase of the Trim Balance System (the gym I go to is located in a mall), I remind myself that it’s Lent and that I shouldn’t indulge. One Friday, my husband and I went out on a movie date since it was the only day we could get his sister to take care of our kids so we could have some time to ourselves. I got accustomed to eating chips or popcorn and drinking soda while watching a film, but that Friday, I opted for just a bottle of pump and the tuna sandwich (that served as my dinner). A simple act of mortification, wherein I offered up that “sacrifice” for the souls in purgatory.
Since I’m quite into social networking, I included abstinence from Facebook and Twitter on Fridays during the Lenten season, as well. Nope, it has nothing to do with my fitness goal, but it does heaps for my soul.
