To create an environment that has beauty, order, and peace.
Ah…. such wise words from Kimberly Hahn, author of Graced and Gifted – Biblical Wisdom for the Homemaker’s Heart.
The house we bought last month and moved into a few days later lacks wardrobes (a.k.a. closets), and the two bedrooms on the top floor (masters and my daughter’s room) have attic-type ceilings and so organising our clothes is a bit tricky.
Distressed by the mess and with guests coming over in a few days for our house blessing, I sought inspiration from Kimberly Hahn and Ikea‘s storage solutions. Thus, my search for inexpensive ones we can use for our home began a couple of days ago.
With an orderly home, I can consequently put better order into the rest of daily living: housekeeping, chores, work, play, and prayer.
As Kimberly Hahn’s mother aptly put it, to make our home “a place of sanctuary.”
This has become my priority for the rest of the month, with my kids’ help who’ll still be home for the summer holidays. I’ll get to teach them in the process how to give importance to order.
“Whenever you have order, your time will multiply and, as a result,
you will be able to give more glory to God, working more in his service.”
~St. Josemaría Escrivá (The Way, 80)
